Session: Bringing the Museum into the Neighborhood: Sustainable Community Partnerships in Practice

Tuesday, April 8

9:15 - 10:30 AM

Location: Ithaca Downtown Conference Center

About:

Across New York State, public libraries serve as community hubs. Welcoming visitors with open arms, libraries make knowledge publicly available through accessible collections, technology, and programming. Given our shared goals, there is vast potential within partnerships between museums and libraries. In conversation, the George Eastman Museum and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art will provide two examples of the power of such partnerships with library and K-12 collaborators. This dialogue, featuring museum educators and their community partners, will introduce museum-library collaborations as a model for educational outreach, serving as a springboard for reaching new audiences near and far.
