Breaking Barriers: Navigating the Digital Frontier in Museums

Want to build a digital collection but don’t know where to start? This workshop aims to empower institutions of any size to set up a digital collections infrastructure. By the end, participants will have a broad understanding of digitization equipment, digital collections solutions and other resources required for success, catalog and metadata best practices, and will receive guidance for next steps.

Speakers

Kelli Bogan

Consultant

With over 15 years in the GLAM sector, Kelli Bogan is a consultant who specializes in digital collections and metadata management. Bridging tradition with innovation, she empowers organizations to leverage technology for enhanced accessibility and user experience. Formerly the Director of Archives and Digital Assets at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Kelli holds a B.A. in English Literature, an M.A. in English, and an M.S.L.I.S. in Archives Management. She has also written extensively on metadata, digital collections, and web archiving.

Tom Blake

Consultant

Tom Blake was dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age many years ago as a darkroom technician and studio film photographer turned archivist - disguised as a librarian. Since then he has overseen the digitization of thousands of historical records and other cultural heritage assets for students, teachers, and other lifelong learners to discover and use online. Tom is currently working as a transition and transformation consultant for Shelfless Librarian LLC. Previously, Tom was the Digital Projects Manager for the Boston Public Library and Digital Commonwealth.
