Digital Docent

October 22, 2018 11:46 AM | Maureen Walsh

Brookside Museum/Saratoga County Historical Society is pleased to announce the public launch of our "Digital Docent."  The "Docent," found on our website (www.brooksidemuseum.org), is a computer algorithm that directs on line visitors through the Brookside Museum/SCHS collection by providing them with suggestions of objects to view that are related to what they have previously clicked on in our collection.

The software was created by the partnership of Trajectory Sports and Datanomers and utilizes "Intelligent Machine/Artificial Inteligence" infrastructure.

Docents are very popular at brink-and-mortar museums, and I’m glad you have hired a “Digital Docent” for your online guests.

History and art matter. Making your 23,000+ online collection archive accessible with just the click of a button from any page on the site will stimulate curiosity and drive discovery.

This innovation that will resonate with both tourists and locals because the Docent knows your entire collection better than any human and makes real-time recommendations that match visitor interests.

It’s easy to use and lets people switch to any page without leaving the Brookside Museum website. Previously, when a person wanted to view the archive collection, they were re-directed to a different website. Now they stay on Brookside, which will boost page-views and time-on-site.

If people want to know more about this, they should go to www.MyDigitalDocent.com .

    Good work!

The Barrett Art Center www.BarrettArtCenter.org also uses the Digital Docent. It helps online visitors explore the collection, and gives a shout-out to our sponsors.
I’m glad to see more museums using the Docent. It’s been a good addition to our website.
