    Ephemera Processing Internship

Adirondack Experience, Blue Mountain Lake, NY

Since opening our doors to the public in 1957, Adirondack Experience has delighted millions of visitors with fascinating exhibits and stories about life in the Adirondack region. With over 23 historical and contemporary buildings on 121 acres overlooking Blue Mountain Lake, our open-air campus offers everyone lots to see and do. Step into the rich history of our region as you row an authentic guideboat from the new ADKX Boathouse and break up a logjam or set off a mine charge in our Life in the Adirondacks exhibit.

ADKX is one of the premier cultural institutions in upstate New York, and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM).

The Adirondack Experience (ADKX) seeks a self-motivated graduate-level library student or recent graduate for a 20-week Archiving Internship position. The Intern will work on-site at the ADKX Library in Blue Mountain Lake, NY and will report to the museum’s Library Director. This opportunity will provide the Intern with hands-on experience in processing, cataloging, and digitizing historical ephemera collections related to the Adirondack region. The ideal candidate will have previous experience or coursework in digitizing historical materials and in creating and enhancing descriptive catalog records for public access. Additionally, the Intern will work with the museum’s oral history collection of more than 200 interviews. This work will involve assessing the collection, collating existing catalog records, creating new catalog records and, whenever possible, posting digitized copies of oral history interviews online for remote access by researchers.

The position is a 20-week position, fulltime.
