    PR/MARKETING MANAGER

    Hudson River Maritime Museum

    The Hudson River Maritime Museum (HRMM) seeks a PR/Marketing Manager to lead all aspects of the organization’s PR/Marketing needs including traditional media, digital media and printed media efforts. This is a mid-level position responsible for enhancing the organization’s visibility, and communicating HRMM’s vision and impact to the public.  Currently this position is budgeted at 3 days per week but could increase over the next year.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Develop and implement digital communication strategy to advance HRMM’s mission and programs, including goals and desired impacts, target audience/outlets, and plans for implementation
    • Maintain, integrate and regularly update the organization’s digital communication platforms  (website, social media, printed media, public calendars, etc.) 
    • Develop a workflow plan to ensure timely and accurate collection, updating, and release of written and visual content for HRMM’s programs, classes and events.
    • Conduct press engagement and media outreach, draft press releases, create press tracking system, maintain press list, etc.
    • Draft, edit, design, and manage production of organizational publications including annual report, newsletters, brochures, website, etc
    • Write, edit, and proofread content submitted by HRMM staff, board and volunteers.Assist in maintaining CRM database (Neon) and email management system (Mailchimp) 
    • Work with development/fundraising team to support donor communications, including year-end appeals, fundraising campaigns and events.
    • Assist with fundraising and public events as needed.

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    • Minimum of two years of hands-on digital and traditional PR/marketing experience.
    • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects with rapid turnaround.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills preferably with experience in or strong instincts for storytelling.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, including the ability to proofread materials for grammar, style, voice, and continuity.
    • Experience of basic office software including MS Office programs, Google calendars, Mailchimp, CRM data bases, etc.
    • Solid practical knowledge of digital media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and how to integrate these platforms.
    • Website design and management skills, esp Weebly.
    • Graphic design skills (Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Canva)
    • Proven ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. 
    • Bachelor's degree in digital media, marketing, communications, design, or related field preferred.

    SALARY

    Commensurate with experience.
