    Job Description:

    Position Description:
    Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Guest Services Manager supervises all aspects of daily front-end Museum operations to promote positive visitor experiences, including operations of the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum Store. This position’s key reasonability is to create a dynamic and inviting atmosphere of the museum helping to ensure that guests are greeted with a warm and welcoming environment from the beginning to the end of their visit.  This is done through day-to-day management of a fast-paced work environment including customer service, inventory management, merchandising, scheduling, training, program reports, and budget monitoring. This position acts as a buyer for the Museum store, maintaining inventory flow, and managing pricing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensures appropriate coverage of the front desk, including weekends, holidays, and evening events.
    • Schedule visiting service staff on a daily and seasonal basis, and prepare regular informational memos to inform and guide staff of upcoming events, training, etc.
    • Works collaboratively across departments to implement visitor surveys and effectively trains staff to execute these tools.
    • Assists the Executive Director in creating sales campaigns and membership initiatives.
    • Assists the Executive Director in developing a branded line of items for the museum.
    • Develop vendor contacts, inventory tracking, and reporting.
    • Trains visitor services staff in membership sales strategies and incorporates membership into their guest services responsibilities, such as promoting to all visitors.
    • Tracks and reports monthly visitations.
    • Respond to visitor questions, on-site and online, and over the phone promptly and is a source of accurate and reliable information.
    • Provide event staffing for events and coordinate with the facility manager for evening rentals and special events.
    • Serves as birthday host and rental host.
    • Assists Executive Director special event planning.
    • Assists the Executive Director with the museum’s social media posts, campaigns, and event creations.
    • Manage budgets, maintain statistical and financial records, set sales targets, and maximize profitability.
    • Prepare promotional materials and displays, promote, and expand online sales activity.
    • Oversee the computerized point-of-sale system.
    • Handle a variety of reception and reservation tasks. Responsible for cash handling, reporting systems, and deposits, as well as all opening and closing procedures.
    • Must also work the front desk.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Excellent communication and sales skills
    • Ability to analyze and forecast sales, revenue, expenses, and return on investments.
    • Demonstrated use of inventory control and merchandising skills
    • Knowledge of computerized systems for retail operations
    • Prior experience supervising sales staff or volunteers

    Education and Experience:

    • Preferred Bachelor’s degree with one to 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 2+ years of professional supervisory experience with working knowledge of workplace regulations in the standard of supervisory procedures and techniques
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Quickbooks, and experience with point-of-sale systems required.

    Weekend hours are expected, as well as evening hours based on special events or holiday programming

    Salary Range: $17.00 - $18.00/hr

    Salary Type: Non-Exempt
