    Job Description:

    The Development Manager position is an integral position at the Everson Museum of Art, key to the success of ongoing fundraising initiatives and relationship building. The Development Manager works to build a culture of philanthropy that is inclusive of all staff and Board of Trustees. Working closely with the Director & CEO and leadership team, the Development Manager will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new prospects and donors, matching funding priorities with donor interests. The Development Manager will work side-by-side with the Membership and Volunteer Manager and Grants Manager to assure thoughtful, strategic, and critical planning of all development department initiatives, including appeals, special events, and campaigns. This position will also manage the integration of a new Planned Giving program.

    Responsibilities:
    Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Manage a relationship portfolio of corporate and individual prospects and donors with capacity to make annual gifts and/or ability to provide planned gifts.
    • Work collaboratively with Board members, the Director & CEO, staff leadership, and the development team to direct the strategic identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donor prospects, and implement effective fundraising strategies for giving.
    • Actively solicit contributed support from prospects and donors for unrestricted museum operations, exhibitions, community programs and outreach, and other projects as assigned.
    • Partner with the Communications team in the development of marketing materials for fundraising efforts.
    • Partner with the Director & CEO on key major gift activities to ensure leadership engagement in fundraising efforts.
    • In partnership with the Director & CEO, set annual fundraising and membership goals for the department; establish quarterly goals and benchmarks for success.
    • Serve as the primary point person for special fundraising events and development-related cultivation events including the Annual Picnic, Exhibition Openings, and the Festival of Trees & Light, in partnership with the Deputy Director.
    • Monitor progress toward revenue goals, providing reports for the Board and leadership team, maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
    • Set a schedule of solicitations and cultivations, including timely delivery of mailings, appeals, creative materials, and messaging with the Communications team.
    • Develop and maintain positive, ongoing relationships with donors, members, and community partners.
    • Additional responsibilities as necessary.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Minimum 3 years successful fundraising experience in a museum or educational non-profit organization; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge and expertise.
    • Previous success in a forward-facing role, meeting organizational fundraising goals through diverse funding streams with experience securing individual and corporate gifts.
    • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive information and communications with members, donors, and stakeholders with integrity and confidentiality.
    • Excellent written and oral communication.
    • Ability to work within a budget and set project budgets.
    • Highly proficient in the use of computers and software applications including database management; willingness and ability to learn new applications. Familiarity with database programs (Blackbaud/Altru experience a plus).
    • May require evening and weekend hours.

    Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000

    Salary Type: Non-Exempt
