    Position Description: The Collections Associate of the Albany County Historical Association is responsible for the care and intellectual control of the ACHA’s museum collections to serve the ACHA’s mission as an educational museum.  The ACHA’s collections include furnishings, art, documents, photographs, textiles, and other artifacts from the 17th-21st century. The Collections Associate, under the direction of the Executive Director, ensures that objects and related historic structures are properly cared for by developing processing and cataloging plans, surveying and managing storage, and implementing record-keeping associated with objects and historic preservation projects.  The Collections Associate plays a key role in making the ACHA’s collections, historic structures, and historic grounds accessible to a wide audience.  This position also provides administrative support. This is an excellent position for individuals seeking a growing, dynamic museum serving a diverse community. The successful candidate demonstrating high motivation and high performance will be provided with opportunities for training and career development.  

    Full Time, year-round employment 
    Requirements: 
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in History, Art History, Museum Studies, or Archaeology.  Related degrees with 1 year of art handling or museum experience will be considered.
    • 1 year of hands-on experience with museum collections or conservation (paid or volunteer) or demonstrated fine motor skills (e.g. art installation, framing, bookmaking, textile fabrication, etc.)
    • Experience with exhibit installation, cataloging, and historic preservation documentation desired.
    • Accurate and effective written communication skills and strong research skills.
    $29,120 annually.  Paid vacation and sick leave.
