Talking Leadership: An Executive Directors’ Roundtable
Wednesday, November 12, 2025 12:00 - 1:00 PM EST Join fellow Executive Directors and CEOs for a wide-ranging and interactive conversation about the challenging commitment of navigating leadership roles at museums (all sizes, all kinds) in our hectic times. Come with your questions and share your experiences, frustrations, and joys, from fundraising, to the economy, to attendance, and beyond. This session is being led by Becky Wehle, President & CEO of Genesee Country Village & Museum, and Masha Turchinsky, Director and CEO of the Hudson River Museum. Becky Wehle Becky Wehle is President & CEO of Genesee Country Village & Museum, the largest living history museum in New York, located outside of Rochester. The Museum features 68 historic structures from the 19th century, moved from locations throughout the State, a gallery of sporting art, and a nature center and attracts more than 90,000 visitors each year. She manages 60 year-round staff and over 125 seasonal staff and a budget of over $5 million. Prior to joining GCV&M in July 2016, Becky worked in the University of Rochester's advancement office for over 15 years, most recently as the Executive Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship. She also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Allendale Columbia School and the Treasurer of the Museum Association of New York. | Masha Turchinsky Director and CEO The Hudson River Museum Masha Turchinsky is Director and CEO of the Hudson River Museum, where she oversees the largest cultural institution in Westchester ($3.8M), with a mission to connect diverse communities through the power of arts, science, and history. She has been recognized by 914Inc. Magazine as a leading Women in Business and by Hudson Valley Magazine as an “Art Leader for a New Age” for innovations that have elevated the Museum’s national profile, increased community participation, and launched impactful partnerships, drawing national tourism from 45 states in 2024. During her tenure, she successfully raised the funds and oversaw the 2023 debut of the HRM’s $11M major capital expansion, while shepherding reaccreditation by the American Alliance of Museums. In 2025, the HRM was recognized by Art Bridges as an inaugural winner of the Bridgemaker Prize for connecting communities and expanding access. Turchinsky is an elected member of the Association of Art Museum Directors. Currently a Director on the board of NonProfit Westchester, she has previously served on the boards of ArtTable and the Museum Association of New York. Masha previously worked for 19 years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a producer of public-facing media, and as a delegate to the Board of Trustees. She holds degrees from Georgetown, New York University, and Columbia University, Teachers College, and a Global Certificate in Corporate Sustainability from Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management. |
