Long Island Explorium
In 2022, the Long Island Explorium was awarded a prestigious Community Anchor Award from NASA to expand STEM education in diverse communities across Long Island. By partnering with libraries, hosting professional development, mobilizing student volunteers, and hosting community events, the Explorium was able to reach hundreds of students and families who are traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields. There are lessons to be learned on the power of community partnerships, and the importance of museums and informal educators on the lives of students.
