Sarah Heikkinen is so excited to be stepping in as MANY's new Marketing & Social Media Coordinator. With a background in journalism, online content creation, and social media management, Sarah is looking forward to using her skillset to bring a new perspective to promoting the importance of arts and cultural institutions across the state of New York.
After finishing her B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Africana & Latinx Studies at SUNY Oneonta in 2015, Sarah earned her master’s degree in Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 2017. While there, she focused on honing her skills as a writer, social media manager, designer, and editor by pitching stories to local publications and managing, writing, and editing for campus magazines.
Sarah has worked for various online publications since graduating, including The Scofield, an online literary publication where she is an editor. Since January 2018, Sarah has worked as the Executive Editor of the music and cultural criticism online publication, Under the Influence of Music (UTIOM), of which she is a founding editor and contributor. For her capstone experience project at Newhouse, Sarah served as the Executive Editor of Reenact Magazine, an award-winning niche online magazine for historical reenactors and living history enthusiasts that she and her cohort developed and published in six weeks.
