    Compensation: @$20 per hour

    Olana State Historic Site, the home and studio of eminent Hudson River School painter Frederic Edwin Church, is a historic site administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Taconic Region.  It is a designated National Historic Landmark and one of the most visited sites in the state.  The Olana Partnership, a private not-for-profit education corporation, works cooperatively with New York State to inspire the public by preserving and interpreting Olana, Frederic Church’s artistic masterpiece. Our collective vision is a fully restored Olana, vibrant with the activity of students, visitors, scholars and artists; and to be the most widely recognized artist’s home and studio in the world.

    Visitor Center Associates are a vital part of the Visitor Center staff and the visitor experience. They work on the front line of the visitor experience and are responsible for completing sales transactions (cash and credit), taking reservations by phone, tracking sales and reservations, providing information to the public, problem solving, customer service and support, end of day tabulations/reports, and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • ·         Opens, closes, and operates a cash register and receives payment from customers in cash, check, or credit card; accurately counts and provides change to customers as required
    • ·         Processes ticket purchases on an online ticketing platform
    • ·         Takes reservations by phone or in person in the Visitor Center
    • ·         Tracks the number of persons on each tour both reserved and actual tickets sold
    • ·         Provides information to the public both by phone and in person.
    • ·         Follows all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
    • ·         Responsible for the accuracy of transactions
    • ·         Great customer service skills including the ability to deal with disappointed visitors
    • ·         Ability to use a variety of office equipment
    • ·         Ability to work as part of a team and interact with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures
    • ·         Must be able to interact with public in a professional and courteous manner at all times
    • ·         Professional conduct, appearance, and ability to work independently is required
    • ·         Ability to stand and sit for hours each day, walk on uneven ground, and ability to lift 30 pounds
