    Albany Symphony Orchestra

    The Albany Symphony is dedicated to celebrating and nurturing our living musical heritage and the music of our time.  Through brilliant live performances, innovative educational programs, and engaging cultural events, the Albany Symphony is committed to serving a broad and diverse community. Based in the New York Capital Region, the Albany Symphony has won numerous national and local awards and recognition for its adventurous programming, recording projects (including a Grammy®), composer residencies, and in-school programs.  The Albany Symphony’s current operating budget is $2.3 million with a significant and growing portion of revenue from fundraising.

    The Director of Development is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all aspects of fundraising and development for the Albany Symphony.  Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other volunteers and staff colleagues, the Director of Development is the key driver of the organization’s efforts to generate revenues in support of its programs and mission. 

    Full-time salaried position

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.  Master’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years experience in increasingly responsible fundraising and leadership roles
    • Experience and skill in supervising and managing staff and volunteers
    • Track record in leading an aggressive fundraising program and achieving defined goals
    • Experience in the arts and culture sector preferred but not required; performing arts a plus
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication (written and spoken), analytical, and research skills
    • Ability to be both an excellent team leader and team player.
    • Excellent people skills
    • Strong computer skills, including facility with Microsoft Office products
