    About the Institution:
    Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House is a non-profit organization with a primary mission to preserve, interpret, and promote the Martin House, a National Historic Landmark and a premier New York State Historic Site. The Martin House seeks a part-time Educator to join our team. This position will facilitate and lead educational programming and engage our community to learn about architecture, art, landscape, and historic preservation.

    Job Description:

    The Educator will report to the education manager, and supports all aspects of the administration and delivery of the Martin House’s educational programs, including K-12 school trips, university tours, community outreach, on-site classes, summer camps, large-scale community programs held on-site, and scout programs. This position will be trained as a certified docent, able to give tours.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Execute a dynamic roster of programs designed for both adults and children. These include school programs, adult workshops, community events, public & specialty tours, curated travel trips, and more.
    • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other education program participants to ensure successful program execution.
    • Serve as a Martin House docent to provide tours to the public, often on short notice as needed.
    • Assist with other ad hoc projects and tasks.

    Qualifications:

    • B.A. in education, museum studies, history, or architecture preferred.
    • Hands-on teaching experience, working with children’s groups or experience with community based programs.
    • Confident speaking in front of groups.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to work well with volunteers.
    • Ability to work in independently, as well as on a team.

    Position Type: Part-Time

    Salary Range: Starting at $20/hr

    Salary Type: Non-Exempt
