The Visitor Services and Programs Manager is a key member of a small team which collaborates in the effective operation of the Geneva Historical Society.
Salary and Benefits - The position is full time with an annual salary between $24,000 and of $30,000, health insurance and other benefits. For security purposes, the Manager is required to live in the Carriage House at Rose Hill.
Training and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, Travel and Tourism or related field preferred. A minimum of two years’ work experience in a museum setting, with travel and tourism or comparable field. Experience planning and implementing educational programming in a museum, historic site, or related setting. Proficient in using technology, including social media and Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal skills (including the ability to present information in a variety of formats and to a variety of audiences) and the ability to effectively deal with staff and the general public. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be flexible and willing to shift projects as demands and priorities of the Historical Society change depending on the season and time of year.
Specific Responsibilities - The primary responsibility of the Visitor Services and Programs Manager is overseeing the visitor centered operations at Rose Hill Mansion and Johnston House. Duties include engaging visitors of all ages through tours and programs, training and overseeing personnel involved in the interpretation of Rose Hill and Johnston House, managing the day-to-day operation of the Carriage House Gift Shop and Visitor Center at Rose Hill, organizing group tours, and coordinating outside rentals of Rose Hill. For security purposes, the Manager is required to live in the Carriage House at Rose Hill.
