The Museum at Bethel Woods, historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, is embarking on the third year of a five year oral history initiative. The award of an IMLS grant to complete a series of oral history pop-ups across the country may serve as a game changer. These site-specific interviews arranged by trusted “community connectors” meet individuals where they are and are more authentic and less guarded than typical. The pop-up project is a partnership between iconic Woodstock veterans, Bethel Woods, and the Cooperstown Graduate Program. This session will provide insight and examples of success from three professional perspectives.
