Not sure if anyone can help with this, but I thought I'd throw it out there.  The National Bottle Museum has always applied accession #'s by putting down a layer of clear nail polish, using a permanent marker to write the #, then another layer of clear nail polish.  Recently, a Board member brought in a P-Touch label maker and suggested using that instead.  The numbers are very clear.  Is this an acceptable way to mark pieces?  It was suggested still using nail polish both under and over the small label.  Opinions?
