Grave Matters cemetery preservation workshop

    The Western NY Association of Historical Agencies (WNYAHA) is presenting its annual cemetery preservation workshop "Grave Matters" on Thursday July 26, 9 AM- 4 PM at the Wright Community Center in Akron, NY. A morning classroom session includes topics on current issues, documenting your historic cemetery, and a presentation by Karen Noonan on 19th Century Mourning Customs. The afternoon session is a hands-on demonstration on proper techniques for cleaning and resetting gravestones presented by Brian Daddis. Lunch is provided. Grave Matters is hosted by the Newstead Historical Society,and funding is provided by a grant from Erie County Cultural Funding.
