A favorite Canalside attraction is celebrating one year in its new home.

The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Explore & More Children's museum officially opened last year in April, but due to coronavirus restrictions the museum is celebrating its first birthday now.

It's celebrating the milestone with two weeks of festivities, both in-person and virtually.

For 26 years before the move, the museum was located in East Aurora.

The move allowed them to expand exhibits and become more accessible for Western New Yorkers.

“East Aurora, the Southtowns are near and dear to us, but you know, Buffalo, we’re in the heart, we’re on the canal, like this is where it’s at. And it’s so important to be able to make sure that all families can come and play. We have tons of different initiatives to make sure that different families can come and play.”

Anyone with an August birthday will receive free admission.

Children can participate in a scavenger hunt, look for clues, and win prizes. For more on that, be sure to check out Explore and More's Facebook page.
